Flames captain Frank Gabadinho Mhango on Tuesday rescued his South Africa club Richards Bay after his goal helped the team to salvage a point in a one-all draw against Sekhukhune United in the Betway Premiership.
In a match monitored on SuperSport television, Richards Bay conceded an own goal in the 68th minute through Tshepo Mabua to gift Sekhukhune the lead.
But Mhango, who earlier on had missed a golden opportunity to give Richards Bay the lead, levelled in the 76th minute from a Lwandile Mabuya assist at close range.
This was the second consecutive match for Mhango to come to the rescue of Richards Bay, having also netted an equaliser in the one-all draw against Polokwane City on Saturday from the penalty spot to cancel Polokwane's first-half lead.
Mhango has now taken his tally to four goals, three behind joint leading scorers Sede Junior Dion of Golden Arrows and Sekhukhune United's Bradley Grobler.
In an interview yesterday, the former Marumo Gallants, Moroka Swallows, AmaZulu, Orlando Pirates, Bidvest Wits, Golden Arrows and Bloemfontein Celtic striker said he was happy to help his team salvage a point.
Richards Bay are now 11th in the 16-team South African top-flight league with 13 points from 12 matches, nine points behind leaders and champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
