Lekoelea: I'm protected by tsotsis and cops

In this edition of In The Spotlight, former Orlando Pirates darling Steve Lekoelea dazzles as he gets speaking about Lovers Mohlala, the Iwisa Maize Meal Spectacular, and much more. Your all-time favourite player in South Africa? "John 'Shoes' Moshoeu. I started following that guy when I was very young - he was playing at Giant Blackpool, and he even left for Turkey at some stage. At Bafana Bafana, he was a marvel to watch. He was wearing a number just like mine. Number 10. I copied everything he did. I noticed how he easily got passed defenders." If you were to win a lotto jackpot, which place would you move to? "I will remain in my kasi, Sebokeng. During my time as a footballer I was staying in Fourways, but I was always hanging out in my kasi. I'm a celebrity but I don't live like one. I don't live like a celebrity. I don't have to run from crime. As it is at the moment I'm protected by tsotsis and cops. I played for Pirates. "They have fans in every corner and in every workplace, and they all love me. Some are police and some are tsotsis. I can feel it even when I'm walking in the streets that I'm safe. I don't undermine people because I'm who I am because of them. That's why they love me." Which player gave you a tough time on the field? "Lovers Mohlala. He was a strong man and he could run. To dribble him I had to make quick turns. I used to study and analyse my opponents every game." Your best game ever? "The Iwisa Maize Meal Spectacular match against AmaZulu. I just don't remember the year. But I scored two goals that day. I believe we beat them 3-1." Your best goal ever? "I will pick the one I scored against Santos at Johannesburg stadium. I scored a goal that belongs in the English Premier League." Which club will win the league? "Orlando Pirates can win the league this season. As you can see Sundowns are no longer playing like they used to under Rulani Mokwena." Your favourite dish? "Pasta with stew.
