The Limpopo-born tactician returned to the club last season, where he went on to enjoy a successful campaign with Lidoda Duvha after leaving rivals Baroka FC.
However, after a string of disappointing results in the new season, the club has decided to dismiss the former Venda Football Club head coach.
Speaking to KickOff.com earlier on Tuesday, Leopards chairman Tshifhiwa Thidiela insisted that Masutha was still in charge.
"Joel Masutha is still our coach. I cannot rule out chances of making changes, but at the moment, Joel is still our coach," said Thidiela.
Later in the day, however, this publication established that Masutha was no longer with the club.
"It's true, Joel Masutha is no longer with Black Leopards. The coach parted ways with the team on Tuesday," said a close source to the matter.

With the coaching position now vacant, reports have suggested that former Kaizer Chiefs striker Mabhuti Khenyeza could take over the reins.
Khenyeza resigned from ABC Motsepe League side Komani United on Tuesday, and it appears he is set to replace Masutha at the Limpopo-based outfit.
