MAGESI FC coach John Maduka has moved to calm fans' nerves after Warriors goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze picked up an injury during last Saturday's Betway Premiership clash against TS Galaxy.
The Zimbabwean international was seen limping off the field, sparking fears that the seasoned shot-stopper could be sidelined. But Maduka confirmed the injury is minor and that Chipezeze should be ready to face Orlando Pirates in the Carling Knockout Cup.
"He should be okay because we have at least 10 days before we play Orlando Pirates in the Carling Knockout Cup," said Maduka. "I think there is still enough time for him to recover. We are looking forward to the coming game."
Magesi reached the quarter-finals after a thrilling 3-2 away win over AmaZulu FC, while Orlando Pirates booked their spot with a 1-0 victory against Siwelele FC earlier this month.
Chipezeze, who previously played for Chicken Inn, recently returned to the Warriors fold, competing for a starting spot alongside veterans Washington Arubi and Martin Mapisa. His five-star performances for Magesi have made him a key figure between the sticks.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwean international coach Simon Marange, has parted ways with Motsepe Foundation Championship side Upington City, having joined as assistant coach in July. Marange resigned on Monday after head coach Abram Mongoya was sacked and former Swallows FC coach Musa Nyatama, was appointed as the new gaffer on Tuesday.
Chipezeze's fans can breathe easy, but all eyes will now be on the Warriors' number one as Magesi prepares for a showdown with Orlando Pirates.
