A forgotten former Mamelodi Sundowns striker has been given a fresh opportunity in South African football after signing with another PSL club, marking the start of a new chapter following a difficult spell at Chloorkop. Abubeker Nasir has been without a team since his ill-fated move to SuperSport United last season. Initially, he arrived in South Africa in June 2022 after his goal-scoring exploits with Ethiopian Coffee caught the interest of the so-called Big Three PSL, and he eventually settled on a move to the Tshwane giants, signing for The Brazilians. The latest is that University of Pretoria have now turned to the 25-year-old to solve their goal-scoring problems in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. Nasir has signed until the end of the season, according to club officials. "Nasir has signed with us. We have not unveiled him because he is nursing his injury. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation, and we are confident that he will start playing for us very soon," said one official. AmaTuks currently occupy eighth place in the standings, having collected 13 points after 10 matches, and are seven points adrift from log leaders Milford FC.
