Remo Stars player Leonard Ngenge is adamant that his team are ready for their CAF Champions League clash against Mamelodi Sundowns. Sundowns will be hoping to emerge with victory from the playoff. Interestingly, None of the Remo Stars players were on international duty for Nigeria in their recent World Cup qualification wins against Benin and Lesotho while Sundowns had seven players in the Bafana Bafana squad which recently played against Zimbabwe and Rwanda. A factor that could work in the favour of Remo is that Sundowns do not have a good record when it comes to playing away games against clubs from Nigeria in continental competition. They have previously played three away games against Nigerian sides in the Champions League, losing all three against Enyimba, Julius Berger FC and Lobi Stars. Remo Stars defender Leonard Ngenge believes his side can surprise the reigning Betway Premiership champions. "I am looking forward to the CAF Champions League game against Sundowns. "It is another great opportunity for me from the club and coach Daniel (Ogunmodede), and we are all up for it. We have got our heads together, our hearts, our minds together and a positive team spirit to win. We are Remo Stars, we want to work together, and we intend to take the win," the 17-year-old told Nigerian outlet Sundowns players who may be experiencing fatigue from international duty will also have to cope with a challenging atmosphere and conditions in Nigeria. Domestically, both teams have not had the best of starts to the season. Remo, who won their first Nigerian league title last season are 13 domestically with three wins and three losses after seven games. In South Africa, Sundowns may be first in the league but Miguel Cardoso's team have struggled in the domestic cups after they were eliminated from the MTN 8 and Telkom Knockout at the hands of Orlando Pirates and Marumo Gallants respectively.
